Each student will conduct an in-depth case study of a specific aircraft accident (from the list above) utilizing the related NTSB accident report as well as other sources. Students should  write an in-depth analysis of the accident, addressing the following:

1. A brief timeline of the accident (including the events leading up to the accident) and the probable cause (as determined by the NTSB).

2. The role of the crew (including flight attendants if applicable).

3. The role of management personnel, flight dispatchers, air traffic controllers, aircraft manufacturers, maintenance, weather forecasts and actual conditions in the accident.

4. The lessons learned and what measures (training, procedural, technological, regulatory, etc.) have been or should still be adopted to prevent a similar accident.

5. In addition to the four basic areas above, a top-notch paper will include some aspect of the accident. However  you will personally find intriguing that you can research more fully and explain in greater detail. The style required for formatting the paper is the American Psychological Association (APA) guidelines. The paper will be graded on originality, accuracy and completeness of information, cohesiveness, spelling, grammar, and the inclusion of quality references.  A minimum of five (5) qualityreferences, appropriately cited in the text, and correctly listed on the reference page.
