Either or salary structures can be successful and beneficial to accompany accordingly their amount of employees, the difference in job description/duties, and how the company considers education/knowledge of duties and experience.

Also considering what type of work an organization does even when the amount of employees is small. 78 percent of companies use traditional salary structures while 11 percent use broadband structures (Culpepper and Associates, 2009).

Have your thoughts on salary structure changed after this exercise?

Even after the Obama administration, the EEOC required companies to provide data showing the racial and gender makeup of their U.S workforce across 10 job categories and additional information on each category. Most of the data recorded show the top paying salaries in a simplified pay are white males. Yes, my thoughts have changed. I see more possibilities of having a company be open to the pay band structure if done with fairness and equality.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of using salary bands?

A disadvantage is losing employee motivation because there might not be much of a pay increase difference or an attainable new position where the pay is higher.

when a company is big then traditional salary works. this structure allows more flexibility and early managed with more promotions and more frequently and very early on in a employees career. The more trained a person is the company will more likely be able to get more pay without a company fighting not to.

How your thoughts on salary structure changed after this exercise?

I have always thought a person should get paid based off they ability of the job and the knowledge of the job. Structure pay has been my thought of how a company should pay because a person took the extra time to gain more knowledge of the position and the training of that person would be more like a refresher on the position. If a person is moving into a different position with more responsibilities then the position should be paid accordingly with raises and advancements

What are the advantages and disadvantages of using salary bands?

not everyone is going to agree with the structure pay arrangements. some company’s are just not financially able to afford pay raises or pay increases. people might not find pay fair for their task or responsibilities. creating work place feuds are some disadvantages. some advantages are pay security, better benefits packages, yearly bonuses and paid vacation’s or sick time off
