  3. Specify the necessary requirements for providing quality of service in mobile networks
  4. Investigate and evaluate the communication applications of different mobile technologies, considering the QoS constraints
  5. Research the problems associated with efficient group communication patterns in mobile networks

Topic

5G networks deliver high speed broadband experience of up to 1 Gbps and <10ms and provide the platform for cloud-based services. Industries, such as IT, retail, healthcare, automotive, media and entertainment different service requirements, including high speed, ultra-low latency, and high reliability. With the rapid growth of 5G deployment, many data-intensive technologies are emerging. For example, vehicles can talk to one another and to roadside, telecom infrastructure and operators using vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications.

Many major car companies, such as BMW, Audi, Mercedes Benz, Tesla, … have initiated their own connected car projects. International Data Corporation (IDC) estimates that worldwide shipments of connected cars will reach 76 million units by 2023.

UW is one of the global major car companies. Their management is planning to take the advantages of 5G networks and V2X communications to provide better, safer and more reliable driving experience to their customers.

You are the mobile network consultant to prepare a proposal to address the requirements of the company.

This coursework is divided into 3 sections:

Section 1 (20%):

You need to investigate the potential opportunities of adopting 5G networks and V2X communications in car industries. Also, you need to identify the potential threats, especially the security and reliability of 5G networks and V2X communications.

Section 2 (30%):

You need to review and compare the V2X solutions in the car industry. Apart from product features, in your comparison, you must provide a detailed strengthsand weaknesses analysis of their solutionsfrom the perspective of product safety, security,and privacy protections,etc. Elaborate your view as a mobile network consultant.

Section 3 (30%):

You need to recommend good practices in applying the 5G and V2Xtechnologies to UW’s vehicles without compromising the safety, security, and privacy protections requirements.

Further note:

You are reminded that you act as a mobile network consultant. Your primary focus should be put on issues related to product safety, security, privacy protections etc., rather than from vehicle functions/features perspectives.
